Finding A Dealer For Heavy Duty Truck Parts MN

By Virginia Russell

Right now you are reading this article because you have been given the important job of a fleet manager of a big trucking firm, or maybe you have just bought a new rig and want to know where you can get spare parts when needed. Whatever the case may be, you want some information on finding a reliable heavy duty truck parts MN dealer. If this is indeed the case then do read on in this article.

In general terms as regards the spare parts market, there are no real big players or dominant dealers in terms of cornering the spare parts market. The reason for this is because most of the spare parts dealt and sold are really made by the manufacturers of vehicles themselves primarily for use to service the warranties that are still valid on the vehicles they have sold.

IF your truck or the trucks that you manage for others be fairly new, or about three years or less, then there is a good probability that it is still under warranty. Truck units under warranty will have no problems regarding truck parts, as the original manufacturers have plenty in stock for backup. The real challenge arises when the warranty expires.

Once the warranty expires on your truck or trucks, then getting spares on time at a good price may be a problem. This since the manufacturers will prefer to keep the ones they have to service warranties that are still good. Thus to get access to the spares that you will need, you will need an able and adept dealer to give you access to these spares.

The dealer that you will have a mind on getting should have a wide regional network and plenty of contacts. As such spares are basically specialized and scattered, he or she must have the ability to source and acquire whatever it is you need in a specified amount of time. It goes without saying that they must have a well placed logistical network working.

Industry standing and market reputation are something that you need to establish or determine with your prospective dealer. Ask around from transport players in the market about reliability of dealers in the vicinity and who they can vouch for and trust when an emergency situation arises. Take notes of their recommendations and act accordingly.

Warranty given on spares is also very important. Look at the kind of warranties exist on the truck spares that are being sold and see if they are serviceable by the original manufacturer only or if there is an additional warranty that can be given from the distributor side. Whatever the case, there must always be one or the other and do not settle for none at all.

And of course look at their stock of inventory and determine if they really own or totally control it, or they just given access to it. As much as possible you want dealer who can control his or her own inventory stock and warehouses rather than one who just acts like a plain middleman.
