Walk Around the 2014 Mazda3 Hatch in These New Videos Posted: 02 Jul 2013 06:15 PM PDT There are many reasons why Mazda and its dealers are hyped about the new, third generation of the brand's "3" hatchback (called Axela in Japan), which will soon be joined by a sedan variant. Just to mention a few, it looks a whole lot better, thanks to the edgier and more well received (especially on the Mazda6) Kodo design language, while also benefiting from Mazda's suite of SkyActive technology comprising lightweight engines, transmissions, body and chassis. Frisky Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX MR Gets POV Test Drive Posted: 02 Jul 2013 04:37 PM PDT While the crew over at Winding Road Magazine usually specializes in doing POV test drives for the more interesting of new cars, occasionally feature a nice older ride, to reminds us of just how toned down cars are becoming nowadays. Compare virtually any modern car with its older self, and you will begin to see that the inevitable progress of the industry has rendered its dashboard soft, along with its responses to your inputs. The same applies to sounds – I don't really understand why all cars are getting so quiet (well, I see the point for family rides, but not for sports cars), but it seems to be an industry obsession. Tesla’s Supercharger Is Free Only for 85kWh Models, Otherwise It Costs $2,000 Posted: 02 Jul 2013 05:15 PM PDT The modern business and industry jungle adopts many techniques to convince people to buy a product. There are also those techniques that make you buy a product you don't really want, and eventually begin to feel its unsatisfactory nature, and slowly wake up from the ad man-induced trance, realizing that you spent $49 on another food blender you didn't need, even if its Teflon-coated blade is sharper than ever, and its motor can chew through coconuts – it's still a food blender, even if the company calls it the Super Food Master Chef Express 5000. Watch Four Stooges Cross the Pikes Peak Course Moments Before Loeb’s Peugeot Flew By Posted: 02 Jul 2013 03:30 PM PDT Being a spectator at a rally or hill climb event is not a hard thing to do. As a basic rule, you just have to listen to your survival instincts and everything will be all right. Needless to say, of all the stupid actions a spectator can do, crossing the course or standing on the road at the wrong time is the most dangerous. Read more » |
This is the New Transformer 4's 2014 Camaro Bumblebee Concept Posted: 02 Jul 2013 03:02 PM PDT Only hours after our spies piqued our curiosity with a boatload of far-away shots from the filming set of Transformers 4 at the GM Proving Ground facility in Michigan, and which included the new Bumblebee, Michael Bay did it again and dropped an official photo of the car. Spy Shots: New Nissan Qashqai Crossover Looks Like a Baby 2015 Rogue Posted: 02 Jul 2013 02:26 PM PDT You'd be forgiven to mistake this plastic-wrapped Nissan prototype for the next Rogue in North America, and from what we hear, the new X-Trail for the rest of the world, that our spies nabbed testing in the States a couple of weeks ago, given that the styling looks almost identical at a first glance. Jay Leno Has Fun In New and Old Cop Cars Posted: 02 Jul 2013 11:55 AM PDT Little boys' fascination with police cars does make genuine sense, but not necessarily because they believe in upholding the law or anything noble like that. I think it has to do with all of the gadgets they get, and their cool look all painted up with their specific liveries, as well as the fact that they can be driven quickly legally. Read more » |
Toyota Camry Sales Hit the 10 Million Mark in the U.S. Posted: 02 Jul 2013 11:33 AM PDT Three decades since Toyota first launched the Camry nameplate in the U.S., and the Japanese sedan has reached the 10 millionth sales mark in the country. America's top-selling passenger car for the past 11 years, the Camry makes up almost 20 percent of all the vehicles Toyota has ever sold in the U.S. The milestone comes on the same year Camry celebrates its 30th anniversary in the States. Flooded Russian Underpass Looks Fun...From the Outside Posted: 02 Jul 2013 11:07 AM PDT I don't know about you, but If I drove my car up to a road crossing under a bridge and it was flooded with knee-height water, I would just stop, turn around and take my time-losses on the street. Of course, you could do as these Russian drivers did when they were confronted with the aforementioned scenario and roll the dice on whether you'll be fishing for your front bumper, pushing your car or being lucky and making it across the artificial river dry and in one piece. Scoop: Transformers 4 Robots Undisguised, Including New Camaro Bumblebee [33 Photos] Posted: 02 Jul 2013 10:20 AM PDT The best thing about the Transformers movie series is catching a glimpse of the new vehicle characters before the film hits theaters. According to some, the worst thing is actually watching the movies, though, opinions may vary on this one…. Back to the pre-viewing part of this story, while cruising around GM's Proving Grounds center in Michigan in search for prototypes, our spies were surprised to see a filming crew for the upcoming Transformers 4 blockbuster, and together, an assortment of new Autobots, including the new Bumblebee dressed in a 2014 Camaro Coupe suite. Besides the trademark yellow and black color scheme, the new Bumblebee model sports a slightly different front end than the facelifted 2014 Camaro with an even tighter grille and headlamp assembly plus a restyled bumper, along with a fixed rear spoiler, a grounds kit and a vented rear bumper. Scoop: Watch the New Jaguar F-Type Coupe S V8 on The 'Ring Posted: 02 Jul 2013 09:00 AM PDT The addition of a fixed hardtop to the F-Type's body should only make Jaguar's compact sports car even better and lighter than the roadster version, but the British company's engineers still need to calibrate, make the necessary changes and test the car before they release it to the public, something that should happen late next year. Today, Carscoops reader Timo tipped us off about a video of a camouflaged Jaguar F-Type Coupe releasing its horses on the Nürburgring racetrack. Read more » |
Tesla Shares Hit Record of $117.18, Google Reportedly Interested in the Company Posted: 02 Jul 2013 08:33 AM PDT The only way for Tesla to go still seems to be straight up, especially after Elaine Kwei, an analyst for the Jeffries Group raised her per share target for the company, from $70 to $130. This alone reportedly caused an increase of 9.2 percent in share prices when the market closed, with a Nasdaq value of $117.18 and a peak during the day of $117.77. Kwei also increased other estimates, including that for yearly Model S production that went up from 19,800 units to 21,500, as well as her Q2 output prediction, from 4,500 units to 5,000. A Design Concept for a Baby Bugatti Veyron Supercar Posted: 02 Jul 2013 08:04 AM PDT Unless there's something else cooking in the VW Group's kitchen, the next car to wear the "EB" (the initials of the brand's founder, Ettore Bugatti) logo will be the production version of the 2009 Galibier super-saloon with over 1,000 horses and an expected date of arrival after 2015, following a recent push back of the project. So, what if Bugatti wanted to enhance its range with a different (see smaller and more affordable) supercar than the famed Veyron, what would that model be and look like? Read more » |
BMW Showcases "The Great 8", Their Flagship Coupe of the 1990s Posted: 02 Jul 2013 07:40 AM PDT While the BMW 8-Series wasn't a big commercial success, it was one of those interesting cars which was bound to gather a following in future years, simply because it represents an odd car from a very serious, traditional manufacturer that never strays too far from its core design philosophy of the era. Dubbed the "Great Eight" by some, the GT coupe was a very sleek-looking BMW, and for many, the looks and the rarity factor alone are/were what drew them to the car in the first place. Read more » |
Infiniti Hands First FX Vettel Edition to Sebastian Vettel Posted: 02 Jul 2013 07:16 AM PDT Being that Sebastian Vettel helped create and even gave his name to the fastest production version of the Infiniti FX, it's only natural that the triple Formula One World Champion gets the very first example of the limited production FX Vettel Edition SUV. Infiniti delivered the FX Vettel Edition number 001 (of just 150 made) straight to his home in Switzerland on the eve of Vettel's 26th birthday. Read more » |
Anki Drive Brings Artificial Intelligence and Racing Games Into Physical Reality via iPhone Posted: 02 Jul 2013 06:37 AM PDT We only know of a few ways one can play with a toy car - by holding it down with one's hand, and moving it around to resemble realistic motion, making noises and stories along the way. Then we have video games, which use artificial intelligence (AI) to challenge you and the story is already there – however, here your opponents are virtual, and by definition less real. Read more » |
Russian Driver Crash-Blocks Frisky Love Makers Posted: 02 Jul 2013 06:11 AM PDT Warning: Even though the cow and her bull-mate made it out alive, some viewers may find the incident disturbing The last thing one would want to do while driving on the open road is to intervene and block (there's another word for that, but we promised ourselves to behave) a pair of animals gettin' jiggy wit it, if you don't mind us calling it so. Did we mention that there's also an optionally available package, with which the car's name becomes the "Subaru WRX STI tS TYPE RA NBR CHALLENGE PACKAGE"? Read more » |
