Using A Helmet Can Increase Your Chances Of Survival

Wearing a helmet is often ignored by bikers today. Although we all know how important the helmet is, and even though the helmet has been around for many years, there are still people who ignore the law and don't wear their helmet. If you don't protect your brain and face, even a simple spill can cause permanent injury. Concussions and brain damage can happen easily as a result of an unplanned occurrence.

1950's was the year when the helmet was introduce for public use. During this era the injuries and deaths related to motorcycle speeding was increasing. Also during this time the motorcycle riders were driving extremely fast and motorists generally do not give motorcycles the attention they deserve. Often, motorcycles, because of their size, fall into a blind spot. As such, many times cars will change lanes not seeing a motorcycle and a fatal accident results.

The first to embrace the wearing about motorcycle helmets were the police in California. Laws mandating the wearing of helmets weren't introduced until 1966, and because of the 1970's, most states had some type of legislation making wearing these folks mandatory.

Many states changed their laws intermittently over the years since its a state by state basis. And because of the state laws this was rarely enforced during that time.

You don't have to be a motorcycle driver to find out that most fatalities involving motorcycles are from head injuries. This only shows as well as proves the importance of the helmet. It doesn't take much of a concussion to severely injure the brain.

Studies also shows that person who doesn't wear head protection is 40% more prone to be killed if they may be in a collision than people that do. Furthermore, helmet riders employ a 70% success rate to avoid serious brain damage during any sort of accident.

Some motorcycles riders always have a reason to not to wear their helmets. One of the usual or common reason is they want to enjoy the air blowing in their face and wearing head protection will prevent them from enjoying this freedom.

Just owning a fancy sports bike is absolutely not enough. Not wearing a flip up motorcycle helmets when you travel might or will kill you. Wearing a helmet can save your life, and it should be the right one.
