Two Cadillac Design Studies for a Compact Coupe Posted: 27 Aug 2013 05:30 PM PDT Without a doubt, Cadillac is experiencing one of its best moments in decades, and the future promises to be even better as GM's top brand replaces current models with new ones (see new CTS and the upcoming Escalade), and ventures into new territories and niches (the flagship LTS sedan and the ELR extended range coupe) as it prepares to battle the German establishment. The Ford Mustang Concepts that Never Made It to Production Posted: 27 Aug 2013 08:14 PM PDT As part of the celebrations leading up to the 50th anniversary of the Mustang on April 17, 2014, and the launch of the all-new 2015 Mustang, Ford has released photos of some of the pony car studies that never made it to production. Over the past five decades, Ford designers and engineers have come up with many proposals for Mustangs that, for one reason or another, never had the chance to be produced. However, some of the prototypes survive and now Ford is showcasing them to make us wonder what might have been had they made it to series production. So, without further ado, let's start the presentations. Read more » |
Mercedes Finds Unofficial C-Class Ad Showing a Young Hitler Run Over Inappropriate Posted: 27 Aug 2013 03:40 PM PDT Some of the best commercials are those that can't be aired on television - for obvious reasons that don't need to be detailed here. There are some, though, that are controversial, such as this commercial created by three film students from Germany, which covers a very sensitive topic in the country even 68 years after the end of World War 2: Hitler and the Nazi regime. Scoop: New BMW M3 Sedan Strips Down to Its Most Revealing Form to Date Posted: 27 Aug 2013 03:06 PM PDT After giving you a first taste of the new BMW M4 hardtop convertible earlier today, we now have another fresh batch of scoop photos, this time of the M3 Sedan in a very revealing outfit, as the Bavarian firm's engineers peeled away most of the camouflage seen on previous testers. Parking Meter Mechanic and Accomplice Charged with Stealing $210,000 in Quarters Posted: 27 Aug 2013 02:35 PM PDT Those who know and understand the system can exploit it and the extent of their control increases the more powerful the occupied position is. If we're talking about high-ranking politicians doing bad things over the course of several years, one could expect the monetary deficit they cause to shoot for somewhere in the range of –illions not starting with the letter 'm.' However, this is the story of a parking mechanic from Buffalo, N.Y., James Bagarozzo (57), who, over the course of eight years (2003 to 2011), used his used his parking mechanic know-how to steal $210,000 in quarters from roadside meters. Geely’s Volvo Co-Developed Models May Be Sold Stateside in 2016 Posted: 27 Aug 2013 02:01 PM PDT A newly published Bloomberg report suggests that Chinese automaker Geely, the owners of Volvo, are looking to start exporting cars to the US as soon as 2016. The report follows a very similar one that we commented on a few days back. It announced Geely's intention to produce vehicles co-developed with Volvo, which would be launched in 2015 and benefit not only from the Swedes' car-making know-how, but also their name… Read more » |
Grandma Saved by the Drift, Car, Not So Much Posted: 27 Aug 2013 01:34 PM PDT Quick question: who do you think is at (or more at) fault for this near-fatal accident, which ended in the most positive way possible for all parties? One of the protagonists is the woman in the dash-cam equipped vehicle. She exited the car and attempted to run across the road, near but not on the zebra crossing, while the other participant is the driver of a small sedan who seems to have been going faster than what he should have on a residential road. Spy Shots: Our First Look at the New Audi Q7 Luxury SUV? Posted: 27 Aug 2013 01:07 PM PDT Admittedly, even those of us who research and drive cars for a living can sometimes confuse one Audi model for another, but on the other hand, you can spot an Audi on the road from the brand's signature styling cues (okay, some Skoda, Seat and VW owners may disagree with the above statement…). What we're trying to say is that, while there's no doubt that the vehicle captured by a follower of our spy associates at CarPix is indeed an Audi, there's a question of which SUV model it is. Our spies say it's the new Q7, and judging by the width of the vehicle compared to the road and the license plate, we'll agree. Read more » |
1922 Ford Hot Rod Has the Most Peculiar Driving Position Posted: 27 Aug 2013 12:41 PM PDT One has to dig deep to find rides that are more American than hot rods – pickup trucks would probably come a close second (at least in my book). You have to admit there's something really special about a pre-World War 2 car that goes like thunder and looks so different from anything else on the road. Of course, safety was not a primary concern when these vehicles were built, so one has to take some risks when driving these beauties. Read more » |
Tesla Reaches Market Value of $20 Billion For a Brief Moment Posted: 27 Aug 2013 12:06 PM PDT Tesla stocks have been going through the roof in the last year, ever since they began actual production of the Model S, and subsequent delivery to thousands of somewhat skeptical buyers. However, so far it's been plain sailing for the fledgling manufacturer and their one model range, so much so that the market value for the company has now reached $20/€15 billion in record time, when its stock prices peaked at $173 earlier today. Toyota GT86 Turbo Fensport Racer vs. McLaren MP4-12C Posted: 27 Aug 2013 11:20 AM PDT We were quite curious and eager when we first read about Autocar editor Steve Sutcliffe's video test of a "New Toyota GT86 TURBO vs. McLaren MP4-12C", for reasons all of our readers can understand without further explanation. The excitement, however, started to fade away when we saw that it was an aftermarket turbo conversion, and slowly turned into disappointment about one-and-a-half minutes into the clip when we discovered that the comparison with the McLaren MP4-12C would be made with the racing version of the aforementioned Toyota coupe and not the street legal model… Read more » |

Watch Manhole Catapult Ford Transit Van Into the Air! Posted: 27 Aug 2013 12:11 PM PDT Seeing this video may very well change your perception and sense of fear whenever driving over a supposedly covered manhole – especially when it's raining. An unsuspecting driver of a fourth-generation Ford Transit was minding his own business, calmly driving in the Ukrainian city of Dnipropetrovsk earlier today (the author of the video states that the date on the clip is wrong as it occurred on August 27), when all of a sudden, the van was violently thrown into the air and onto the ground before crashing on another vehicle. New Subaru WRX and STI Reportedly Coming to the LA Auto Show Posted: 27 Aug 2013 09:30 AM PDT Subaru set the expectation bar quite high this year with the release of the WRX Concept at the New York Auto Show, but subsequent sightings of prototype models testing out in the open snapped us back to the reality of the Impreza body-based WRX and WRX STI performance models. We'll still keep our fingers crossed for a future model built around the striking study… Read more » |
Scoop: New BMW M4 Convertible Breaks Cover for the First Time Posted: 27 Aug 2013 08:52 AM PDT Open top versions of the BMW M3 series were never the true enthusiast's first choice, but there's a market out there for high-performance convertibles, and the Bavarians want to keep their slice intact, if not increase it. Seen here for the very first time, is a camouflaged prototype of the upcoming M4 Convertible that will follow a few months after the presentation of the coupe model next year. Read more » |
Epic China Red Bull Drift Challenge Pits Lexus SC Against Toyota Supra Posted: 27 Aug 2013 08:29 AM PDT A single view of China's Tianmenshan Mountain road from above is more than enough to get you extremely interested in a special drift challenge organized by Red Bull earlier this month. Did we mention that the spectacularly scenic road leading to the top of the Chinese mountain has 99 corners? Read more » |
Rare in the US: Low Mileage Citroen BX GT for Sale in Florida Posted: 27 Aug 2013 08:00 AM PDT Citroen kept trying to recapture the glamor and stately, presidential demeanor of the classic DS in all of their subsequent large cars, up until the days of the XM, which for those familiar with the brand, was the last of the proper big Citroens. They sold many much more affordable models over the years too, and while many weren't really that successful, the angular Marcello Gandini-designed BX was a very unique proposition in the 1980s. LaFerrari Turns Grand Corner Entrance Into an Inglorious Exodus [w/Video] Posted: 27 Aug 2013 07:31 AM PDT When pushing a pre-production car's limits on a track for testing purposes, mechanical and electric failures, and even human mistakes, are bound to happen. It's all part of the game, which most of the times, outsiders never have the chance to see. Read more » |

New 2014 Toyota Corolla Starts at $16,800* in the USA Posted: 27 Aug 2013 06:52 AM PDT Toyota has come under a lot of fire for making dull cars in the last few years, and what better place to start a rejuvenation of the range than with the ever-popular Corolla. One look at the new redesigned 2014 US sedan model reveals their ambition to produce more interesting models, and this car, is at the forefront of that effort. Price is also important when it comes to the Corolla, with Toyota having kept MSRPs fairly close to the outgoing model with the exception of the S Plus, which costs $3,070 higher that the grade it replaces. World Premiere of Sorts for New Battery-Powered VW e-Up! and e-Golf in Frankfurt Posted: 27 Aug 2013 05:47 AM PDT In somewhat disappointing news for fans of the brand, VW's third world premiere for the upcoming 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show after the already confirmed all-electric e-Golf and the high-performance Golf R with 296hp and AWD will be the less exciting battery-powered e-Up! City car, which we saw in production trim in March and even know its pricing in Germany. Read more » |

Infiniti Releases First Photo of Q30 Compact Hatchback Concept Posted: 27 Aug 2013 05:06 AM PDT In the automotive industry, there are hardly any cars that are pure in concept, and most blend at least two (though, usually more) distinct styles of vehicles into just one, promising a wide array of varying qualities you didn't normally get with just one vehicle. However, some are willing to abandon all convention and make cars that have no history behind them whatsoever, but promise to sell very well in the current climate of the market. And thus, here we have the first photo of the Infiniti Q30 concept. Read more » |
