According to a report from Car Sales that cites sources from within the company, the two slow-selling models will be replaced by a stand-alone sports car, which will have both hard- and soft-top versions.

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 01:30 PM PDT

We recently caught a few glimpses of the next addition to BMW's newly baptized 4-Series range after the Coupe, the four-seater Convertible with the hardtop in place protecting the cabin and its passengers from the elements of the weather.

This time, our scoop photographers pinpointed BMW's engineers testing the 4er Convertible in Europe with very little camouflage and most importantly, its three-piece electric-folding metal roof neatly packaged in the boot, which understandably, will have a smaller capacity than the coupe's.

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 01:01 PM PDT

You buy an old E30 3-Series BMW as a project car (a good start, may I add), for which you order a lot of cool custom and rare parts, some of which you get to fit, while others you keep in boxes which sit alongside it, in a storage unit you had to rent because you were moving out and couldn't accommodate it any closer. Posted: 08 Aug 2013 12:33 PM PDT

With the future of the Holden Commodore as a traditional rear-wheel drive sedan looking as bleak as the prospect of Australia keeping its automotive manufacturing industry intact over the next decade, the new Gen-F could be the last hurray for a country that grew up with muscle cars spanning from the Ford Falcon GTHO and Valiant Charger R/T of the 1970s to the HSV and FPV's of the 21st century. Wireless Car Hacking Demonstrated in New Video

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 11:52 AM PDT

There really is no need to present the worst-case scenario, when it comes to the hacking of modern cars, because everybody's familiar with its implications. The more systems are controlled by software, the more vulnerable to "cyber attacks" the vehicle is.

For instance, simpler cars don't have direct software control over the steering (i.e. if new systems like Lane Departure Warning or self-parking are not present, you should be in control of the direction in which the front wheels are pointed at all times).

If you take into consideration the Corvette's established name in the sports car market, its looks, performance and comparatively (in the U.S.) affordable pricing, then the hype surrounding the new model with the Stingray designation is completely justified.

Naturally, some people are more hyped about it than others are – so much so, that the members of the Dot3Studios came up with their own online configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray.

AutoVAZ Brings Cheap Granta to Europe to Test the Market

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 09:31 AM PDT

Ever since Renault hit it really big with their low-cost Dacia brand, all other manufacturers have tried to adopt the successful model. However, nobody liked models like the Fiat Albea or Peugeot 206 sedan, or others of the sort, and while they did sell, they couldn't match the sheer volume of sales that Dacia was getting with the Logan sedan, in so many varied markets, including western Europe.

What is needed is not a ridiculous hack and then glue back together job, like Peugeot seemed to have done with the aforementioned 206 sedan, but rather a car built from the onset as a cheap model, like the Logan.

As hard as we tried, we couldn't find a single connection with any Rolls-Royce model – can you? Read more »

US-Bound VW and Audi Diesel Models to Get Next-Gen Engine in 2014

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 07:03 AM PDT

Slowly, but surely, the number of diesel-powered passenger cars and light-duty vehicles driving on US roads is going up. This is helped by the dispelling of old misconceptions regarding the fuel and the clattery nature of the engines that use it.

Volkswagen is currently the market leader, and has sold more than 47,000 vehicles this year, with 10,000 of them delivered in the month of July alone, marking a whopping 78 percent market share in the sector.

Metaphorically speaking, when someone "gets the shaft", it means they are not being treated in a fair way, but in the case of 24-year old Supersport Seat Leon Supercopa driver Jimmy Adriaenssens, the racer literally received a BMW M3's shaft (with the help of a Porsche 911) during the recent Supercar Challenge race of the Gamma Racing Day 2013. Infiniti Releases Sketch for Frankfurt-Bound Q30 Compact Concept

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 06:06 AM PDT

I think Infiniti is one of the least restrained automakers when it comes to designing their cars, particularly in recent years – this opinion was cemented after seeing their latest interpretation of the FX SUV for the first time and liking it quite a lot, as well as the various concepts they've released, and the latest Q50 too

It is therefore with great interest that I await any kind of new design they put out, because it usually ends up being interesting in some way, particularly in concept form.

The Renault Latitude, the European alter ego of the Korean Samsung SM5, will get its first facelift this autumn. Some may say that it's too soon, given that the car debuted only three years ago at the Moscow motor show.

However, to remain relevant in a market dominated by German rivals, Renault needs all the help it can get for its flagship sedan. This is why the Latitude has been cosmetically revised, almost a year after the SM5 received an update.

Opel/Vauxhall Announce Debut of New 200 PS Cascada Turbo in Frankfurt

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 05:12 AM PDT

Opel and Vauxhall's 1.6-liter turbo engine, which makes 170 PS (167 hp), isn't really the hottest unit around, no matter what the horsepower figure says – there are some (older) lower-powered engines that feel punchier, rev far quicker and don't sound stressed at over 3,500 rpm...

Thankfully, they have now announced the debut of a new 1.6-liter unit, also boosted by a turbocharger, but this time developing 200 PS (197 hp).
