Future Cars: Kia's Next Sedona Minivan Goes People Hunting Posted: 24 Sep 2013 06:32 PM PDT When the word 'Minivan' comes to mind, usually weird things start happening with my nerve endings and then I promptly fall into a state of nausea - I'll be honest here and say that minivans interest me as much genital warts or watching paint dry. In saying that, while not the most attractive automotive art forms to grace our roads, they do serve a well-respected purpose. From carrying families and band members to cult leaders and church-goers; they're primarily designed for one thing - moving small groups of people in comfort (albeit minus the style). Read more » |
Handmade Mo-To Modern Vintage Toy Cars Look Really Cool Posted: 24 Sep 2013 05:58 PM PDT When a hobby turns into a full-time job, the person who manages to accomplish that can say he or she is truly blessed. That's exactly what the founders of the Candylab toy startup must be feeling right now, as the project they submitted on Kickstarter has managed to rack up almost five times more money than the $20,000 necessary to βεγιν production of their Mo-To line of wood toys. Jaguar Admits Wrong Approach Was Taken in Making Old X-Type Posted: 24 Sep 2013 04:34 PM PDT I was one of the very few people that I know of who were familiar with the industry in my circle, yet still liked the Jaguar X-Type and would have even gone as far as to buy one. It was probably a byproduct of many years of mostly trouble free second-gen Ford Mondeo ownership, and the knowledge that the platform was basically the same, as were the diesel engines, but clad in a sexier Jaguar body and featuring a much nicer interior than the Blue Oval could ever offer at the time. BMW Spills the Beans on M3 Sedan & M4 Coupe with 424HP 3.0L Turbo, Manual Comes Standard Posted: 24 Sep 2013 03:54 PM PDT With the clock quickly ticking towards the official debut of the all-new M3 sedan and M4 coupe, BMW came out today with a plethora of technical details on the two cars that share the same platform, mechanical hardware and many other components sans their body. The first thing you'll be wondering is what's lurking under the hood. Both cars ditch the outgoing M3 Sedan and Coupe's naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V8 engine rated at 414hp (420PS) at 8,300 rpm and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) at 3,900 rpm for a new 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline six producing "approximately" 424hp (430PS) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft), which the automaker says, "is maintained over a very wide rev band". BMW did not release acceleration figures. Read more » |
Renault-Nissan May Use Daimler’s Compact Platform for Non-Premium Cars Too Posted: 24 Sep 2013 03:09 PM PDT Renault and Nissan could use the new compact car platform that will underpin the upcoming Infiniti Q30 for non-premium cars as well. Gran Turismo Series Creator Says GT6 is 80 Percent Done, GT7 Arrives on PS4 in 1-2 Years Posted: 24 Sep 2013 02:33 PM PDT I don't think it's really a secret that Sony decided to launch Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) on the ageing PlayStation 3 (PS3) console to milk some more money out of it and keep it relevant as the new and more powerful PS4 gets ever closer to store shelves. Thus, we now learn that next-gen version of the signature PlayStation racing game will not be called GT6, as originally presumed, tying the story together neatly. Read more » |
Scoop: New Seat Leon Cupra SC is a Mediterranean Seasoned Golf GTI Posted: 24 Sep 2013 01:57 PM PDT With so many brands under its hood these days, the Volkswagen Group has to constantly hone its products to find new niches to position them. Such is the case with the upcoming Seat Leon Cupra SC (for Sports Coupe, but in reality, three-door hatch), which will be the first of two performance variants in the range, the other one rumored to be the 300hp+ Cupra R model with AWD. Tesla Model S is No Track Car, But it Handles the Laguna Seca Corkscrew Well Posted: 24 Sep 2013 01:28 PM PDT More people are turning to the internet for their car-buying tips these days (aren't they?), doing quick searches and revealing dozens of reviews and personal pieces that are great for forming a preliminary opinion. It is later proven right or wrong, once you have narrowed your search down, and you actually begin test-driving the cars, before proceeding to make the actual purchase. Read more » |
Bentley Reportedly Planning Entry-Level Four-Door Coupe for 2018 Posted: 24 Sep 2013 01:04 PM PDT According to a Car Magazine report, Bentley is developing a four-door coupe that will compete against the BMW M6 Gran Coupe and Mercedes CLS 63 AMG and will play the role of an entry level model. Compilation of Crazy Pedestrians Proves Drivers Can Never Be Too Cautious Posted: 24 Sep 2013 12:00 PM PDT Warning: Even though all pedestrians made it out alive, viewers may find some of the incidents disturbing We are accustomed to seeing videos with crazy car crashes from Russia, but we have to admit that accidents in which pedestrians throw themselves in front of cars are not very common. Rendering Wants us to See Why a 2015 Cadillac CTS SportsWagon Would be Appealing Posted: 24 Sep 2013 11:38 AM PDT I've always wondered how many modern day wagon/estate buyers justify their choice by the actual need for extra carrying capacity, and how many go for one because of the cool factor associated with them (you know which ones we mean), especially in the US, where they are nowhere near as common as in Europe, and there are still those who label them as oddball creations. U Spy: Heavily Cladded 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Shot in LA Posted: 24 Sep 2013 10:22 AM PDT Mercedes' testing grounds for worldwide available models like the upcoming W205 generation of the C-Class aren't limited to the Nürburgring or even Europe, as they take place all over the globe – including, of course, the USA. Study Suggests Actual Consumers May Stay Away from Self-Driving Cars Posted: 24 Sep 2013 10:02 AM PDT A study done by ORC International for the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, and put forth by Forbes takes a pretty adamant stance against the possibility of early adoption of autonomous vehicles by the traditionalist mass-market consumer public. The numbers it has to back this up are very suggestive, even if the limited pool of only 1,000 adults questioned may not be completely accurate as per the entire country, they are revealing nevertheless. Teen Girl Trades in New Jeep Wrangler and Buys Car for Herself and Friend Posted: 24 Sep 2013 09:03 AM PDT We feature a lot of bad things going on in our offbeat section, including, but not limited to, road rage, curious modifications, strange police behavior and plenty of illegal activities, and perhaps not that many stories about people doing nice things for other people, without asking for anything in return. The fault lies not only at our end, though; such, stories are not as common as we would like them to be… Read more » |
Scoop: Lamborghini Gallardo's New Replacement Snagged on the 'Ring Posted: 24 Sep 2013 07:16 AM PDT We had hoped that the rumors about the debut of a concept model previewing the Lamborghini Gallardo's replacement at the Frankfurt Motor Show were true, but as you already know, it never happened. Nonetheless, Lamborghini continues the development of its new entry-level supercar, which may carry the Cabrera moniker, according to some sources. Read more » |

In 1993, Jeremy Clarkson was Really Impressed by the Ford Mondeo [w/Video] Posted: 24 Sep 2013 05:03 AM PDT The Ford Mondeo is quite an institution in Europe, even more so in the United Kingdom, where the term "Mondeo man", coined by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, designates a significant part of the country's middle class. Launched in 1993 as a replacement for the Sierra, the Mondeo has enjoyed so far a successful career, racking up 4.5 million sales in Europe over 20 years and three generations. Read more » |
