Future Cars: 2015 Hyundai Sonata Grows Up and Matures Posted: 26 Sep 2013 05:30 PM PDT A few years back, any talk about Hyundai with my motoring-minded friends usually descended into an all-out laugh slaughter at the expense of the Korean automaker. Fast forward to today, and those long-lasting prejudices are now largely invalid. Hyundai isn't a brand to be ridiculed - it's a company fast improving their vehicle portfolio, taking their fight right up to the established and traditional main players. Read more » |
New Jeep Cherokee Gets Good Marks On- and Off-Road in TFL Review Posted: 26 Sep 2013 04:50 PM PDT Once you've gone past the strange styling of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee's front end fascia, the rest of the package is proving to be a competitive one, quite similar to what other crossovers are offering nowadays, but with the available off-road-tuned Trailhawk version getting better tires and extra ground clearance, it can handle some moderate obstacles too. Spy Shots: New Mercedes-Benz C-Class Shows its Wagon Side Posted: 26 Sep 2013 04:20 PM PDT Mercedes-Benz engineers working on the upcoming W205-codenamed C-Class have their hands full, as the Stuttgart company is preparing a raft of body styles and versions for the series, including a traditional sedan, a coupe, a convertible and the Wagon, otherwise known as the T-Model in some markets, which our spies photographed for the first time. Xbox-Exclusive Forza 5 Game Gets 17 Additional Cars – See the Complete List Posted: 26 Sep 2013 03:50 PM PDT Turn 10 Studios, the developers behind Forza Motorsport 5, the Xbox One exclusive racing title, are right in stating that without cars, they would not have a game, and it's a fitting start for their official post announcing the seventeen additions to the vehicle roster. They try to place emphasis on the fact that the selection of cars, as well as their diversity, is very important, hinting at the fact that they have so far chosen well… Read more » |
Ford Mustang Tops List of Most Wanted Classic Cars in European Survey Posted: 26 Sep 2013 03:20 PM PDT This may come as a surprise to many of you living in the United States, but the Ford Mustang has been voted the most desirable classic car in Europe. A survey of 75,046 Europeans carried out by used car selling site AutoScout24, revealed that more than one in three enthusiasts on the continent (37 percent) dreams of owning a Mustang. The legendary BMW M1 came second with 20 percent of the votes, while the VW Beetle was third, with 11 percent. Read more »This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Ford Formula EcoBoost Compared Against Serious Performance Road Cars Posted: 26 Sep 2013 02:50 PM PDT The road-legal Formula Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost car is definitely a spectacular vehicle to watch in action, especially on public roads. It looks the way it does because it needs to be as light as possible, and make the most of its just over 202hp (205PS) output. When Chris Harris had his say on it, it was only making 170hp, but now Autocar has done so too, and this time they got the full figure. Read more » |
Report Says One of Many Hurdles Faced by Autonomous Cars is Legal Posted: 26 Sep 2013 02:16 PM PDT Autonomous vehicles seem to be what awaits us in the not too distant future, and even using today's technology, they are completely technically and technologically feasible. Proof is the multitude of self-drivers that are currently undergoing testing around the world (like the Mercedes S-Class in the video below), some of which even on public roads. Read more » |
Mercedes Uses Michael Schumacher and...Chickens to Promote Intelligent Drive Posted: 26 Sep 2013 01:42 PM PDT Mercedes-Benz has released a new "Intelligent Drive" campaign for all the brand's connected safety and driver assistance systems, and which include cameras, sensors and safety technologies that interact to make motoring safer and more comfortable. To promote the Intelligent Drive that already equips the E-Class and S-Class, the German automaker has released a campaign featuring seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher. Busy Wisconsin Bridge Sags and Scares Commuters, Closes Indefinitely Posted: 26 Sep 2013 01:17 PM PDT Bridges are not the kind of constructions that one can simply ignore after building, as they need constant attention and minor repairs to be kept safe through their active lifespan. Yet not even these, and periodic checks are enough to accurately determine whether a bridge is safe or not. Read more » |
Spied: Mercedes B-Class Prepares for a Mid-Life Refresh Posted: 26 Sep 2013 12:50 PM PDT Is it facelift time for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class already? Not exactly, as we don't anticipate anything new until late 2014 or 2015, but Stuttgart's engineers have quietly started testing the upcoming B-Class facelift on public roads in Europe. Read more » |
Honda Civic Tourer Chief Engineer Shows Off Car’s Defining Features Posted: 26 Sep 2013 12:35 PM PDT Honda has sold nowhere near as many Civic hatchbacks as they would have liked, in Europe, where the lack of a small-capacity diesel engine, and the slightly awkward styling never made it a prime candidate in the class, even though, by all accounts, it's not a bad car at all. New Bumblebee Species Discovered in Singapore, the GTRombus Wideboreus Posted: 26 Sep 2013 12:00 PM PDT Blame Hasbro or Michael Bay, but when it comes to cars with a bright yellow finish and black detailing, the first thing that pops in mind is the Transformers character Bumblebee, which started life as a humble VW Bug before GM's marketing masterminds turned him into a number of different Chevrolet Camaros. Dude, Where's My Car? Severe Glitch Annoys Millions of Grand Theft Auto 5 Players Posted: 26 Sep 2013 11:40 AM PDT So you expect a game that has been in development for many years, under the watchful eyes of hugely-experienced developer Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive to be very good right out of the box. However, it seems that the developer may have spent a bit too much time making the characters overly-violent and misogynistic, and forgot to fix some severe code bugs before releasing the title… Read more » |
Take a First Look at the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Pickup Truck Posted: 26 Sep 2013 11:20 AM PDT In Europe, it's unheard-of to buy a vehicle intended for any kind of towing (even the light kind) or providing serious pulling power without a diesel engine. It's traditional advantages are offering better torque at low rpms, better fuel economy and a generally more relaxed drive, especially when hauling or pulling something of significant mass. The downsides are equally familiar, and namely the sensibly higher acquisition cost, higher price of the fuel and lower number of US fuel stations selling it. Read more » |
Bigger and Brawnier 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD Unveiled Posted: 26 Sep 2013 10:55 AM PDT In the same way that Ford's F-Series of trucks includes both the regular full-size F-150 pickup truck range and the bigger Super Duty variants, GM's Chevrolet and GMC brand's offer both standard and larger heavy duty versions of their Silverado and Sierra pickup trucks respectively. Following on from last year's introduction of the new generation 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks, today, GM revealed the 2015 Heavy Duty (HD) bodies of the two models, appropriately, at the State Fair of Texas. Does the Ferrari 458 Speciale Sound Better than the Regular 458 Italia? Posted: 26 Sep 2013 10:31 AM PDT The Ferrari 458 Speciale is still so new that hardly any footage of it in action can be found on the web. It's the more powerful and hardcore version of the Italia, which uses the same engine but boosted in power, while a host of other upgrades and improvements promise to make it noticeably faster than the regular model. Lawbreakers will Hate the New 2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD Posted: 26 Sep 2013 10:24 AM PDT The new Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD has set the fastest lap time (1:33.85) ever recorded for an all-wheel-drive test sedan during Michigan State Police's 2014 Vehicle Evaluation Test at Grattan Raceway. Tesla Model S Becomes Norway’s Best Selling Car...in First Weeks of September Posted: 26 Sep 2013 09:30 AM PDT Countries with low population and a not-huge demand for new cars can set the stage for some interesting developments in terms of sales hierarchies, if a new model of great interest is launched. It has the chance to outsell any other model, regardless of price or fuel type, and that's why the Tesla Model S became Norway's best selling car during the first two weeks of September. FIA to Have a Talk with F1 Drivers After Webber Hitched a Ride on Alonso’s Car Posted: 26 Sep 2013 11:50 AM PDT So, Sebastian Vettel won the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix this past weekend, much to the indignation of spectators present at the racing venue. In fact, the German was reportedly booed by the crowds, kind-of like a rock band that irritates its fans with consistently good performances… Read more » |
What Was He Thinking? Russian Jaguar XF Driver Takes a Short Cut on Train Rails Posted: 26 Sep 2013 08:12 AM PDT Perhaps this Russian owner of an XF sedan mistook Jaguar's statement of wanting to create a crossover (see C-X17 concept study), with it already has one in its stable of cars. Who knows what goes in the minds of certain drivers… Read more » |

The updated vehicle line includes a second-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine, increased towing capabilities and a refreshed King Ranch model. Read more » |
A Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake Made for Finnish Cops After Reader Vote [w/Video] Posted: 26 Sep 2013 07:21 AM PDT You could say that Finland is worlds apart in more ways than one, not only from the U.S., but even from many countries in Europe as well… How else can you explain the results of a vote from Finnish magazine Tekniikan Maailma (translates to 'World of Technology'), which asked its readers in the beginning of the year to choose the most deserving person or entity to receive a new car and which model should that be, as part of the celebrations for the publication's 60th birthday. New Corvette C7 Measured Up to Ferrari F12Berlinetta and Porsche 911 C4 S Posted: 26 Sep 2013 06:44 AM PDT The Corvette an excellent driver's car? Perhaps not so much in the past, but that seems to be the general consensus for the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray, at least among U.S.-based reviewers, and Motor Trend's Head 2 Head conclusion is no different. U.S.-Made 2014 Toyota Corollas to be Exported to 18 Countries in Latin America and the Caribbean Posted: 26 Sep 2013 06:16 AM PDT Funny how things turn out. Once upon a time, Americans were afraid that imports, and especially the ones from Japan, would wipe out the domestic industry. Today, all major players from Japan build many of their cars in the States, and not only that, but they also export their goods to other markets. On Thursday, Toyota announced that it will begin exporting the new generation of its U.S.-built 2014 Corolla compact sedan to 18 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, beginning from next year. Two-Face Skoda Superb by OK-Chiptuning Posted: 26 Sep 2013 05:54 AM PDT Harvey Dent, here's your ride - well, at least in name as we don't know if OK-Chiptuning's new Two-Face Skoda Superb has anything to do with Batman's enemy. What it does have is a two-color wrap, very similar, but not identical, to the one used on Skoda's Rapid Sport Concept displayed at the Wörthersee Tour back in May. Read more » |
