The Highly Sought After Porsche 911 SC And Carerra RS

The Porsche 911 is a legendary luxury sports car that was first introduced in 1963. The 911 is a two door coupe with a high performance engine that is used for racing and luxury driving. Probably the most sought after are the Porsche 911 SC and Carerra 911 RS cars. All of the 911s have an air-cooled engine at the rear of the car and rear suspension.

The 911s distinctive design originated from the classic Volkswagen Beetle, The design has become more and more sleek over the years but the classic older models especially the 911 SC an Carerra RS are the most widely collected. The 911 is still in production today and very successful in a variety of motor-sports, such as motor-racing and rally driving.

The earlier 911 models are consider to be the classic 911s. These cars were produced from 1963 to 1989 and during this time the car has undergone numerous improvements to performance and design. These classic 911s are highly collectible and the 911 designation prevented Porsche from withdrawing the 911 in favor of a 964 model in 1989.

The Porsche 911 has been improved by racing teams and by the company for various types of motorsports, including rally driving and racing. The car's distinctive design evolved from the Volkswagen Beetle. The first editions of the car came with 130 PS (96 kW) flat-6 1991cc engine at the rear of the car. They had a 5-speed manual transmission system. In 1966 the company introduced the more powerful 911S with a 160 PS (120 kW; 160 hp) with five leaf Fuch alloy wheels.

'Targa' versions of the 911 were introduced in 1967. These cars were the first 911 with a removable roof, however they also had a stainless-steel roll bar that made then not considered fully convertible. Also in 1967 Porsche unveiled the 991L and 991R. The 911L featured a slightly more powerful engine, and the 911R had an increased engine of 2 liter. The 911R was specifically designed to be raced and was made much lighter with aluminium doors and a magnesium crank casing.

The Carerra RS models were introduced in 1973, and the ones that were manufactured between 1973 and 1974 are the most collectible of the 911s. The Carerra RS is considered to be the greatest 911 ever made. The Carerra 2.7 RS was the most powerful 911 to date, with a 2.7L engine. A Carerra 2.7 RS were made with a turbo charged engine and was so successful it came second in the 1974 24 hour Le Mans.

Another highly collectible 911 is the 911 SC model. This model contained a detuned version of the Carerra 3's 3.0 liter engine, but was designed for personal use rather than racing. The 1980 special edition SC is highly sought after and came with a front chin spoiler and rear turbo whale-tale and alloy wheels. However, in the UK a sports version of the car was available with stiff suspension, a rear spoiler and front lip.

The first truly convertible 911 appeared in 1981 with the Cabriolet version of the car. The Carerra RS and Porsche 911 SC Cabriolet was incredibly successful and out-sold every other Porsche to date. Because of this success, the company have since produced a cabriolet version of all their 911s. In 1979 Porsche were set to cease the 911 designation in favor of 928. However 911 was such a successful model that they decided to keep it for marketing purposes.
