Armored Luxury Cars Have Many Advantages

Most citizens know very little of vehicles with armor and this is due to a variety of foreign dignitaries being who these vehicles are used by. However, such vehicles are not unneeded in your lives. For many people, armored luxury cars represent comfort and safety.

Of course, they are used by major figures in politics, business and other people whose professional activity is associated with an increased risk for their life and health. That is why they prefer not to go on simple, unsafe machines and hiding behind thick bulletproof glass and armor plates is what they have to resort to. A little history is needed, to get more clarity on the subject, as it goes back to the 19th century. That's when the first coach with armor was in use.

One of the first armored coach builds was for the Russian ruler in those days, who obtained it, after surviving numerous attempted assassinations. For safety's sake, half the carriage was strengthened with some sheet metal. For the next assassination attempt, that coach did get bombed, with the explosion injuring several individuals that were standing too near to it, however, the tsar got merely slightly stunned, without a single bit of damage on his actual body.

When gasoline motors took over from horses as the power provider for the transport of important men, these carriages with armor were promptly replaced by more modern cars. These automobiles showed up even before the very first tanks did. Production begun in the start of the last century, with the first of these cars being widely utilized for world war one. It is widely believed that as far as automobiles with armor go, the first was assembled in the UK, by a talented engineer, back in 1902.

Immediately thereafter, these vehicles began to be developed and built in Austria, Hungary and Germany, and Russia. Thus, the armed services of the day's armies stood had many such vehicles, and many were of varying origins. Eventually, gangsters even became pioneers in all of this, one of the first American automobiles of that sort was commissioned the famous Al Capone. The most modern and luxurious, at the time, 16-cylinder Cadillac was equipped with quarter inch plating and was equipped with bulletproof glass. The weight of the vehicle was 3,05 tons.

On top of the basic armoring, that car had lots of very special tools, such as allowing an oil discharge, directly into the vehicle's exhaust pipe. This was an effective, but simple way to quickly set a smokescreen up. If that did not assist enough in the getaway, the occupants could use a hole in the car's floor, which allowed the road to get covered with sharpened spikes. That had been made use of, to help stop various pursuers.

In Europe, the first of this sort of vehicle was a Mercedes. Unfortunately, information about the first owner of the machine has not been preserved until today.
