ABT's R Cure for Your RS5 Light Upgrade Itch Posted: 16 Oct 2014 09:10 AM PDT No matter how powerful, fast and special automakers make their vehicles, there will always be demand for more oomph and styling pizazz, and tuners like ABT are more than happy to facilitate. The Germans haven't gone nuts with their new "R" package for the Audi RS5 Coupe choosing instead a path of moderate upgrades. For example, the new complete sports exhaust system that's optionally available with side pipes, and some minor fiddling with the engine, generate an extra 20hp and 10Nm bumping the 4.2-liter V8's output to 464hp (470PS) and 440Nm (324 lb-ft) respectively. ABT quotes a 0-100km/h (62mph) run in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 290km/h (180mph) for the RS5-R coupe. With the R package, you also get a carbon fiber aero kit comprising a front skirt and flics, rocker panels, rear apron and a fix rear wing to notify drivers coming from behind. Finally, the RS5-R rides on new 20-inch alloys that weigh 9.5kg (21 pounds) wrapped in 275/30 ZR20 performance tires. Photo Gallery |
