Your responsibilities mostly will include transporting of finished goods or raw material for manufacturing companies and distribution centers. Plan and meet delivery schedules, comply with traffic rules, report accidents and violations. The first rule is to make friends with your dispatcher. This is because they give you the loads and mileage which will affect your wages. You must know them and what they like. You can complement them from time to time or even take them out for a drink. This way, they will watch your back. You should also never refuse any given load. This creates a bad impression of you and your ethics. By taking the job given, you will be trusted.

Always make your food to eat while on transit. You can quickly pack a snack and some fruits together with water. This will become advantageous when you reach destinations that are hard to find restaurants to buy food. In the long-run, you will get to save money that you would have otherwise used on food.

You should inspect the vehicle before you embark on the journey. This way you will avoid any accidents that might have occurred due to carelessness. It is also better to arrive late than explaining why you damaged the truck. Before every journey, you must do some inspection on the truck. Take the truck for servicing once in a while for it to be in good shape and continue giving you good service.

You should use well the privilege of being a worker of the corporation and get experience in other sectors of the firm. There are light duties that you can perform while not at work which enhances your skills. This is an act of diligence and can become worthy one time when the firm is looking for an experienced person. You may also become an exception if the firm is cutting down employees.

You should always keep time when at work. Never arrive late for this shows a bad picture of your personality. Before you head home, you should check the timetable that highlights your duties for the following day so that you can do clearance early. One must also plan his or her timetable efficiently and avoid surprises.
