Typically, car wheels are the most susceptible to road damage compared to any other part of a car. They tend to hit potholes, curbs and many other objects. Therefore, they can cause damage to the alloy wheels which may leave your car in a bad state. If these costs are not repaired in time, the wheels can start rusting and eventually, the strength and the integrity of the car rim will be reduced. The requirements that will be used include water, liquid soap, alloy polish, sandpaper, old towel, alloy paint, clear lacquer and masking tape among others.

Firstly, you will clean wheel using the liquid soap with warm water. After cleaning it, leave it for some time to dry. Using the towel, apply paint thinner on the damaged part of your wheel. The paint thinner is used to remove old wax and road grime. Make sure that you have done this steps as outlined so that you can get desired results.

Then, you will wash the wheel using the soapy detergent twice so that you remove the excess paint thinner. Again, allow the wheel to dry. Using the masking tape, cover the areas of the brim that are not damaged. Then, use a 400 grit sandpaper and then sand the area that is damaged very gently.

The moment you notice that grooves are being formed and the part you are sending has become rough, immediately stop sanding. Cover the scratched parts with bond putty and give it some few minutes to dry. Use sandpaper with a 600 grit to sand the bond putty until you feel that it has become smooth.

Cover the undamaged areas of your vehicle wheel with the tape to avoid paint overspray when you are applying the lacquer/paint on the brim. The paint should be applied in a thin layer on the now dry putty so that it is covered completely. It is then allowed to dry for about 20 or 30 minutes.

After the color has dried, use sandpaper that has a 1200 grit to smoothen the area that has been repaired. Then, use water and soap to clean the painted area then make sure it is dry before you start spraying the clear lacquer on the painted area. After spraying it, leave it overnight so that it can completely dry.

Once the lacquer has dried completely, you can now remove the masking tape from the entire wheel and wash it. Apply the alloy polish using a soft and dry cloth. The polishing should be done to the whole wheel so that it blends and shines. Then, ensure you take care of the wheels so that you avoid damaging the brim again.
